Lovingly referred to as the ‘Mother of the World’ by locals, Egypt is not only home to wonders from the ancient world, but also home to fairytales and love stories like this gorgeous ‘Garden of Eden’ Wedding by Majeda Kassir Bisharat; the Founder & Creative Director of MY Event Design.
Set in a private villa in Cairo, this extravagant wedding manifested as a recreation of the ultimate secret garden setting for an enchanting, heavenly ceremony. The theme was inspired by the bride and grooms’ own love for nature and collection of abstract art.
To transport guests into this heavenly garden, a futuristic three-part entry installation was built, creating an illusion world of sensory experiences. Upon first impression, guests were met with a forest-themed installation with a twist. Teal coloured tropical leaves, and crystal chandeliers hung from tree trunks lining a verdant grass pathway echoing the sounds of the forest.
Making their way through to the second futuristic installation, guests were met with a mesmerizing world of metallic reflection. Reflective street mirrors and smaller magnified mirrors enclosed the tunnel walls, as guests walked across a mirrored trail, creating an infinite experience.
The third tunnel transcending to the ‘Eden Garden’ transposed guests into a tropical world of illusions. Neon lights and 3D doors triggered a sense of curiosity and wonder among guests as they walked across a tropical trail of colossal, printed leaves.
The open garden space was framed by abstract coral and teal prints, blue appliqué along with round mirror hangings. All these key elements were meticulously placed within the exceptional, lush greenery that embraced the wedding party in this ethereal setting.
Complimenting the thematic colours and prints of the Eden Garden, round and rectangular tables with luxurious metallic and glass accents were set up. They flattered the hand-painted green Chiavari chairs, which were inspired by Gucci Décor.
The tablescapes were a flawless mix of harmonizing elements; high and low floral conceptual arrangements highlighting the use of two solid colours; coral and teal, along with their vibrant tonalities. The preserved flowers and abstract compositions organically decorated the seating area while seamlessly showcasing wild and colorful butterfly printed show tableware; complete with personalized embossed napkins with the couple’s initials and a Salento Rose.
To give the Eden Garden theme a twist, two huge preserved abstract floral gazebos were installed. At the edge of the seated area, a double-sided, interactive glass bar filled with sand and cacti paid homage to the desert. To complete the set and scenery designs, huge abstract tree installations were created.
Beautiful nature-inspired floral arrangements surrounded the buffet area, showcasing a magical display of thousands of handmade butterflies floating above. Ruffled designs, rich chocolates, traditional Arabic sweets and bite-sized delicacies were all sprawled across the S-shaped tabletop. Three-tiered cakes, including a magnificent macaroon tower, were nestled in between large gold candelabras and vases filled with orange tulips – a true nod to a fairytale story.
To capture their essence and in honor of not only their love of each other, but also their love of collecting abstract art, a bespoke backdrop was created for the bride and groom. Lined with a mix of bold and eccentric flowers, tinted foliage and preserved flowers, the custom-built printed flooring drew your eyes to the magnificent floral arch installation. No detail was spared without a touch of personalization.
“Every detail counts and MY Event Design strives to create an impression in every moment of each catered experience. Not only was the wedding a manifestation of the bride and groom’s vision, it also illustrated that 2019 design trends can be implemented while still being personal, intimate and unique. This event would have been a difficult project to organize and execute had it not been for my amazing team at MY Event Design. I’d also like to thank all parties involved for making this secret garden event, one for the scrapbooks! It was a beautiful and memorable experience – not only for me but for the staff, guests and most importantly, the bride and groom!” — Majeda Kassir Bisharat, MY Event Design
